How do I apply and prepare for a mission trip?
Step 1 - Select an upcoming trip and complete an online application. If it is your first time applying for a trip with us, you will need to create a Compassion To Action Managed Mission account. Follow the prompts to create your account or log in to your existing account.
Step 2 - Once you have completed your application, please review all of the following FAQs to begin preparing for your trip. We encourage you to get a head start on the training (see question below).
Step 3 - Once we have received and reviewed your references, and you have been accepted, we will email you. Please follow the instructions on this email and read through the Acceptance Package. The Acceptance Package will include all the information you will need to prepare for the trip.
Step 4 - It is now your responsibility to carefully and thoroughly read through the Acceptance Package and follow the instructions to prepare for the trip. Information included in the Acceptance Package is booking flights, obtaining VISAs, vaccinations, and more.
Step 5 - Become familiar with the your Compassion To Action trip website and any upcoming tasks listed.
What is covered in the cost of a trip?
The trip cost includes your lodging (shared), three meals per day, and all transportation during the trip.
What is not covered in the cost of a trip?
The following is not included: airfare and transportation to and from the mission’s destination, baggage fees, personal spending money, the cost of snacks, additional water or meals on travels days, additional gratuities (bus drivers, housekeeping, etc.), travel insurance, passport and visa fees, country exit tax, and immunizations where required.
Where do I meet the team?
You will meet with the team at the final destination.
Can I have a single room on the trip?
We recommend a shared room, though you may request to have a single room. We will consider making an exception depending on room availability. To request a single room, do one of the following: 1) In your application in the “Comments” section, request a single room and leave an explanation; or, 2) Email firstname.lastname@example.org about your request and an explanation prior to the first payment deadline of your trip. If it is approved, there will be an increase cost on your trip and the additional cost will be added to the first payment deadline.
Can I leave for the trip early or stay later than the rest of the team?
Yes. You will be responsible for booking and paying for your own flight, transportation to or from the hotel, or any additional costs. You will still be required to pay the entire trip cost and will not receive any reimbursement for time you were not with the team.
Can we sign up as a group for a trip?
Yes, Compassion To Action welcomes groups on its international trips, whether they are organized by a church, some other ministry, or it is simply a group of friends. Give your group a name and in the “Comments” section of the application, type the following: “Group Application: (Insert Group Name).” All payments will still be done individually. If the church or ministry is making a payment toward one or more individuals, be sure that it is clear exactly how much each person’s account should be credited.
Do I need training before attending a trip?
Yes, each of the following are required: 1) Read A Practical Guide to Evangelism- Supernaturally by Chris Overstreet, 2) Download the Compassion To Action app on your phone and get familiar with the videos under Discipleship Resources 3) Attend all Online Team Meetings. The meeting times will be listed in your acceptance package.
What are the age limits for trips?
You must be 18 years or older to attend a missions trip with Compassion To Action.
What vaccinations do I need to get?
We highly recommend that all who travel check with their family doctor or the website below regarding what type of vaccinations or medications are required or recommended when going overseas. Your family doctor will know your history and what shots you have already had. If they cannot assist you, they should be able to refer you to a specialist who can. It would be up to you what you choose to do with the advice of your family doctor, specialist or www.cdc.gov. If there are required vaccinations we will let you know in the acceptance letter.

How do I get my passport and visa (if needed)?
If you do not have a passport you may need to pay for expedited processing. Due to recent changes in the law, processing time for passports can be extremely slow. All USA team members are required to have a valid passport good for 6 MONTHS BEYOND YOUR RETURN TRIP DATE. If you do not have a valid passport, please expedite. Application forms to apply for a passport are available at post offices. Currently, United States passports are valid for 10 years. You will need your passport BEFORE you can apply for your visa (if needed). If you need to expedite your passport, call Visa HQ at 1-800-345-6541. Visa HQ can also expedite a VISA.
